Course Description
This workshop is an introduction to Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) intended for mental health professionals who wish to acquaint themselves with the treatment. It highlights the structure of DBT and defines the modes and functions of comprehensive DBT. This workshop is appropriate for mental health professionals interested in learning about DBT at an introductory level.
Present background knowledge of DBT tools.
Present the principals of DBT
Understand the role of Mindfulness in DBT

Bio
Christine Logan attended University of California, Irvine in 1966, the first year the campus opened. She received a BA in Sociology and her lifetime California Teaching Credential. After raising 2 children, Christine got her masters in Marriage and Family therapy from Phillip's Graduate Institute, Encino, CA. in 1998. She interned at their California Family Counseling Center. After, she worked at The L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center in youth services, being a therapist to homeless youth in the shelter. She spent a year with G.L.A.S.S., Gay and Lesbian Adolescent Social Services, as a social worker in group homes. Her next job was at Caring for Families with AIDs, another group home for children affected by AIDs. After passing Oral and Written exams, Christine got her MFT license in 2003. She went to work at Glendale Hospital for a psychiatric unit run by Alternatives for dual diagnosed gays and lesbians. From there she moved to Palm Springs to do treatment at a Sober Living run by Alternatives. She has worked at Michael's House and now teaches DBT at Blue Tiger Recovery which specializes in sex addiction.
This course meets the qualifications for three (3) hours of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. Completion certificates will be awarded for full attendance of the event. Course evaluations are required to obtain the completion certificate. The Desert Chapter of CAMFT is approved by the California Association of Marriage Family Therapists (Provider #62275) to sponsor continuing education for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and LEPs. The Desert Chapter of CAMFT maintains responsibility for the course and its content.
