Board and Committee Chair Position Descriptions

Board Members for Desert-CAMFT Chapter are:

President—Desert-CAMFT Chapter

Position responsibilities:

  • Serves as voting member of Executive Committee of The Board and ex-officio non-voting member of all committees.
  • Presides over and attends all Board Meetings and Chapter functions.
  • Serves as role model and advocate for the Mission and Strategic Plan of Desert-CAMFT Chapter.
  • Develops and executes Annual and Strategic Plan with assistance from other Board Members.
  • Carries out legal and fiduciary responsibilities as needed.
  • Initiates formal and effective transition of office to incoming officer at end of term
  • Represents Desert-CAMFT Chapter at community and state level events.
  • Supports and promotes decisions made by Desert-CAMFT Board.
  • Reviews and approves nominations of Officers and Committee Chairs.
  • Self-assess and evaluates overall Board performance. 
  • Prepares for and educates prior to board meetings of policy formation.
  • Reviews and acts upon Committee recommendations.
  • Serves as key contact with State CAMFT.
  • Oversees preparation of Board Meeting agendas and Executive Committee Agendas.
  • Ensures Chapter abides by its bylaws and established policies.
  • Report to Membership in writing annually and as needed on Chapter website.
  • Acts as role model and representative of Desert-CAMFT Chapter
  • Reviews all communications and proposals made by those inside and outside the Chapter.
  • Initiates formal and effective transition of office to incoming President-Elect at end of term.
  • Appoints committee chairs and vice-chairs with advice of current committee chairs and consent of Board of Directors.

Qualifications:

  • A current and active member of Desert-CAMFT Chapter and State CAMFT.
  • Must have completed term of President-Elect.
  • Commitment to advance the mission of Desert-CAMFT.
  • Ability to make the necessary time commitment.

Term:

  • One year as President
  • One year as Past-President.

Time Commitment:

  • Attend at least 12 Board Meetings annually.
  • Attend at least 4 Executive Committee Meetings annually.
  • Approximately 15 hours per month on Chapter business.

President-ElectDesert-CAMFT Chapter

Position responsibilities:

  • In the absence of, or because of the incapacity of the President, perform the duties and assume the responsibilities and authority of President. (Please read and review job description for President)
  • Serves as an ad hoc member of The Executive Committee.
  • Nominates Committee Chairs, be an ex officio member of each committee.
  • All Desert-CAMFT Committee Chairs report to The President-Elect.
  • Learns the duties and functions of the President.
  • Attends at least 8 monthly Chapter events during the calendar year.

Qualifications:

  • A current and active member of Desert-CAMFT Chapter and State CAMFT.
  • Must have completed term of Secretary or Treasurer.
  • Commitment to advance the mission of Desert-CAMFT.
  • Ability to make the necessary time commitment.

Term:

  • One year as President-Elect.
  • One year as President.
  • One year as Past-President

Time Commitment:

  • Attend at least 12 Board Meetings annually.
  • Attend at least 4 Executive Committee Meetings annually.
  • Approximately 15 hours per month on Chapter business.

SecretaryDesert-CAMFT Chapter

Position responsibilities:

  • Serves as voting member of Executive Committee and Board.
  • Serves as role model and advocate for Desert-CAMFT Chapter.
  • Supports and promotes decisions made by Desert-CAMFT Board.
  • Reviews and approves nominations of Officers and Committee Chairs.
  • Self-assess and evaluates overall Board performance.   
  • Prepares for and educates prior to board meetings of policy formation.  
  • Review and act upon committee recommendations.
  • Prepare and distribute Board Meeting minutes to Board Members.
  • Prepare and distribute Executive Committee Meeting minutes to Executive Committee members.
  • Notify, in writing, State CAMFT on a monthly basis as to upcoming Chapter events.
  • Uphold the fiduciary responsibility to act in the best interest of Desert-CAMFT Chapter.
  • Act as a role model and representative of Desert-CAMFT Chapter.
  • Attend at least 8 monthly Chapter events during the calendar year.

Qualifications:

  • A current and active member of Desert-CAMFT Chapter and State CAMFT.
  • Must have completed at least one year as a Committee Chair.
  • Commitment to advance the mission of Desert-CAMFT.
  • Ability to make the necessary time commitment.

Term:

  • One year.

Time Commitment:

  • Attend at least 12 Board Meetings annually.
  • Attend at least 4 Executive Committee Meetings annually.
  • Approximately 15 hours per month on Chapter business.

TreasurerDesert-CAMFT Chapter

Position responsibilities:

  • Serves as voting member of Executive Committee and Board.
  • Serves as role model and advocate for Desert-CAMFT Chapter.
  • Supports and promotes decisions made by Desert-CAMFT Board.
  • Reviews and approves nominations of Officers and Committee Chairs.
  • Self-assess and evaluates overall Board performance.
  • Prepares for and educates prior to board meetings of policy formation.
  • Review and act upon committee recommendations.
  • Oversees Desert-CAMFT’s financial resources and ensure compliance with the Board’s financial policies, the Mission Statement and Strategic Plan.
  • Submits a year-to-date financial report at each Board Meeting and at the annual strategic Planning Meeting.
  • Develops and presents an annual budget for Desert-CAMFT Chapter in conjunction with Executive Committee Members.
  • Oversees the investment program of the monetary assets of Desert-CAMFT Chapter and ensure that internal controls are in place to prevent the misappropriation of funds and to ensure the organization’s continued viability.
  • Upholds the fiduciary responsibility to act in the best interest of Desert-CAMFT Chapter.
  • Acts as a role model and representative of Desert-CAMFT Chapter.

Qualifications:

  • A current and active member of Desert-CAMFT Chapter and State CAMFT.
  • Must have completed at least one year as a Committee Chair.
  • Commitment to advance the mission of Desert-CAMFT.
  • Prefer a member with previous financial background and skills levels commensurate with a Treasurer’s role and responsibilities.
  • Ability to make the necessary time commitment.

Term:

  • One year.

Time Commitment:

  • Attend at least 12 Board Meetings annually.
  • Attend at least 4 Executive Committee Meetings annually.
  • Approximately 15 hours per month on Chapter business.

Committee Chairs for Desert-CAMFT Chapter are:

  • Membership

  • Website
  • Chapter Events
  • Social Media

These Committee Chairs are responsible for:

Membership:

  • Grow the Chapter Membership at least 5% year over year from January membership number.
  • Prepare Member solicitations and communications to encourage current members to renew and potential members to join the Chapter.

Outreach:

  • Oversee the compilation and distribution of Desert-CAMFT Chapter Directory.
  • Create opportunities for new professional associations with the Chapter.

3000 Club:

  • Oversees the growth of Interns membership of 5% year over year form January membership number.
  • Works with Chapter Events Chair to ensure at least quarterly Intern Events and at least one annual Job Fair Event.

Website:

  • Maintains current Chapter Website.
  • Initiates any recommendations for website modification and improvement.

Chapter Events:

  • Initiates, recommends, implements and manages monthly Chapter events and initiate marketing collateral around these events for distribution.

Social Media:

  • Responsible for the content of Chapter Social Media Accounts including: Facebook, Linked In, Twitter and any other social media accounts that the Chapter approves of.

Qualifications:

  • A current and active member of Desert-CAMFT Chapter and State CAMFT.
  • Commitment to advance the mission of Desert-CAMFT.
  • Act as a role model and representative of Desert-CAMFT Chapter
  • Ability to make the necessary time commitment.

Reports to:

  • President-Elect

Term:

  • One year.

Time Commitment:

  • May be required to attend up to 12 Board Meetings annually.
  • Approximately 10 hours per month on Chapter business.
  • Attend at least 8 Chapter events each year.
