Introduction to Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy:
TF-CBT consists of several core treatment components that are designed to be provided in a flexible and developmentally appropriate manner to address the unique needs of each child and family. Specifically, TF-CBT is a short-term treatment that may work in as few as 12 treatment sessions. Of course, treatment may be provided for longer periods depending on the child and family's needs. Presenter Bio:
Hi, my name is Alia. I received my Master's Degree at Chapman University and I’m a California Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I’ve been working in the field of psychology for more than 20 years and recently opened a private practice. I am a Clinical Member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT), a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT), a member of CAMFT’s local chapter as well as a board member of my local neighborhood organization.
My upbringing and life experiences have paved the way for me to adopt, not only a holistic approach to collaborating with an individual, but also a family system’s perspective. I like to roll-up my sleeves and get in there. I am like a chameleon – changing to adapt to my environment while remaining true to myself. This chameleon-like adaptation allows me to work with the myriad of individuals, couples, and families that I encounter.
My work during the last 20 years has been focused on those impacted by trauma. In June of 2010, I received my Certificate of Proficiency to deliver Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (an evidenced based program whose goal is to provide relief of the symptoms of flashbacks, nightmares and severe anxiety) from the California Institute of Mental Health “CIMH” (now known as California Institute of Behavioral Health Solutions “CIBHS”) which was established in 1993 to promote excellence in mental health services.
My current plan is to continue working with individuals who have been traumatized as well as working with chaotic families regardless of the etiology of their chaos. Through this presentation, I hope that you can get a glimpse of the satisfaction one derives from working with those who have been impacted by trauma. Please visit me on my website at: alia@aliapaula.com or if you or someone you knows needs help, please feel free to reach out to me by calling: 760: 318-4061. Namaste.
