Divorce is an emotional process. However, when it comes to divorce and finances, thinking about decisions objectively is the best way to make good choices. There are common financial mistakes that people make during divorce that often cause pain, both emotional and financial. As therapeutic professionals serving this population you will be able to see when your clients might be in danger of the financial pitfalls.
Objectives: 1. Participants will understand potential financial pitfalls of divorce and their implications. 2. Participants will learn about how to help clients overcome the pitfalls 3. Participants will learn why it is urgent that you and your clients are aware of the financial pitfalls.
Goals: 1. To help clients overcome financial overwhelm and make good decisions. 2. To support clients in understanding a realistic vision of child and spousal support. 3. To understand the basic financial issues your clients need to think about (that they might not be already).
