Carol Teitelbaum, is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s
degree in Education, Educational Psychology, Counseling and
Guidance, both from Cal State Northridge. Carol has been a
licensed therapist since 1985. Since 1999 she has had a private
practice in Rancho Mirage, 43-585 Monterey Ave. #8, Palm
Desert, California 92260, telephone: 760-346-4606, and offers
individual and group counseling for trauma, mood disorders,
anxiety reduction, stress reduction, grief and marriage issues.

Lavelle Jacobson, AMFT specializes in grief and loss, spirituality,
relationships and parenting. Also, she has experience in working
with anxiety, addiction, depression, the twelve steps,
codependency, hospice, drug prevention, strategic planning,
infertility, sex addiction, adoption, anger management, behavioral
issues, divorce, family conflict, self-esteem struggles, trauma and
sleep issues. She is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist supervised by Carol Teitelbaum, LMFT

Course Description

Loss of a loved one, including pets, friend, job, marriage, moving
and more can create feelings of grief and loss. There are many
losses in one's life and learning how to experience those losses can
prove to be very helpful.

In addition, recovery from addiction requires inquiry into our past
and facing a future of unknown possibilities with newly learned
tools to forge the road ahead. Grief is experienced when the loss is
a friend named alcohol or drugs. The friend that can numb feelings
and erase shame. Using drugs and alcohol can create many loses in
one’s life, work, friends, home, family, self-esteem, possessions,
even life itself.

This workshop will provide tools for understanding and processing
grief in recovery.

Lavelle Jacobson, AMFT will provide education about the grief
process. Carol Teitelbaum, LMFT will provide experiential
exercises to aid in the healing of the grieving Inner Child.

Course Objectives

At the conclusion of the workshop, the attendee will be able to:

• Participants will be able to name and discuss the stages of grief.

 • Participants will be able create a loss time line and be able to
discuss and understand its importance. 

• Participants will be able to apply principles of the grief process
by experiencing an exercise in Inner Child Meditation.

Goals

Learning to identify losses using a time line.
Understanding the stages of grief
Learning processes to aid clients through
meditation, mindfulness, and inner child work.

This course meets the qualifications for three (3) hours
of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or
LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral
Sciences. Completion certificates will be awarded for full
attendance of the event.

Course evaluations are required to obtain the completion
certificate.

The Desert Chapter of CAMFT is approved by the California Association of Marriage Family Therapists (Provider #62275) to sponsor continuing education for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and LEPs. The Desert Chapter of CAMFT maintains responsibility for the course and its content.
